 METHAMPHETAMINE:

  • The number of labs dismantled is decreasing while the number of arrests is rising.  Seized methamphetamine amounts are remaining fairly consistent, with a few exceptions.  Arrests for methamphetamine remain the highest for any of the included categories.

 POWDER COCAINE:

  • Seizure amounts have leveled off and are now consistent, also remaining significantly higher than crack cocaine seizures in number of kilos.  Arrests for powder cocaine are down in 2005, but have shown a tendency to rise and fall from year-to-year.

CRACK COCAINE:

  •  Seizures and arrests are a peak highs in 2005, and have been increasing steadily since 1999.  Though the seizure amounts and number of arrests are still lower than that of powder cocaine, if the exponential increase continues for crack cocaine activity, that gap will diminish.

 HEROIN:

  •  Heroin arrests and seizures tend to remain fairly consistent from year-to-year, and also tend to have lower overall numbers than most of the other categories.

 HALLUCINOGENS:

  •  Hallucinogen seizure amounts have remained fairly consistent, with a few extreme exceptions, from year-to-year.  The amounts also tend to be smaller than many other categories.  Arrests, however, have increased steadily since 1999, now surpassing heroin arrests in number.

 MARIJUANA:

  •  Marijuana arrests have remained consistent over time, while the amount seized from year-to-year varies greatly.  The number of marijuana “grows” dismantled a year is increasing steadily since 1999.

TOTAL ACTIVITY:

  •  The number of cases and arrests worked and made by the WMDTF has shown an overall increase since 1999, and typically has increased each year (Small dip in 2005 from 2004, but with a higher Arrest-per-case average).
